Lyris LM Members' Status Changed to 'Held' After Email Outage

Overview

You discover that a large number of your Members have been set to 'Held' Status after a mailing that occurred when their email server was experiencing an outage. You notice that the Members who are 'Held' only received one bounced email in spite of the fact that you have configured Bounce Limits greater than 1.

Information

This specific type of rejection message, "The email account you tried to reach does not exist", is considered to be a 'hard bounce' by ListManager and is not retried according to your Bounce Limits. You can configure ListManager to notify users when they are placed in a 'Held' status by enabling the option for Notifying Users of Their Held Status under Utilities > List Settings > Automatic Maintenance > Error Mail tab. See the ListManager - Changing Members Status From Held to Normal article for details on changing many Members' Status with a CSV file.
