Overview
Some of your users' email servers are rejecting list messages due to a mismatch between the From address and the return-path and you would like to set a different return-path for a specific domain so that the messages for users from that domain will not be rejected.
Solution
Unfortunately, there is no method in Lyris LM that will allow for a specific domain destination address to have a different return-path than the one you have configured for your site. The return-path can be configured one of two ways - at the site level or at the list level.
Configure Your From and return-path Address at the Site Level
The Internet Host Name assigned to a site determines whether email and web traffic will reach ListManager successfully. If you are unable to access ListManager via email, or if web forms or clickthroughs do not work properly, check that DNS has been set up correctly for your host name(s).
- Log on to Lyris LM as an Administrator
- Navigate to Utilities > Administration > Sites
- Enter your domain name in the Internet Host Name field
- Click Save
This setting applies to all lists on your site and will be used to construct the From address and return-path address for all mailings. This setting can be overridden at the list level by following the steps in the next section. However, using a domain that is different than the Internet Host Name may cause SPF checks to fail.
Configure Redirection of All Bounces at the List Level
If Redirect all bounces to email address is blank, ListManager will handle all bounced mail for you. If you don't want ListManager to handle your bounce mail, specify an email address where all error mail should go. This option is provided for advanced users, and it should be left blank unless you are prepared to handle the bounce mail at another address.
Any email address you specify here will replace the Mail From: header in your outgoing mail message. Normally, the mail transaction Mail From: address is the error handler of the server, and error mail is defined by Internet standards as going to this address.
If you change this setting ListManager will no longer receive error mail and will no longer be able to automatically process bounces, error messages, bad deliveries, etc.
It is STRONGLY recommended that you do not modify this setting.
- Log on to Lyris LM as an Administrator
- Navigate to Utilities > List Settings > Automatic Maintenance > Error Mail tab
- Enter the address that bounced emails should go to in the Redirect all bounces to email address field
- Click Save
This setting will apply the address that you entered as the From address for all mailings.
